This Friday we had a celebration in the hall for the Grandparents of our students. Early start and Junior Infants performed poems. Senior Infants performed a song and a dance. First and Second class recited a lovely poem and had some great actions to go with it. Second class performed a poem they had written especially for the day. Then we had a great performance of Irish Dancing with a mix of children from different classes. Third class also performed a poem and Nathan from fifth class read a reflection to complete the performance. The Grandparents then enjoyed Tea and Coffee which was organised by the Parent's Association.

On Tuesday the 24th of January 5th class visited Limercik Institute of Technology to take part in an event. They had a fun filled educational day. The day kicked off with an interactive talk on Space Technology and the spin offs of Space Technology to everyday life. They also had a presentation by Blackrock Castle Observatory on 'Space in Our Lives'.They also learned about how satellites work and impact on our lives. They got to attend a magic science show after lunch. Then the highlight of the day came. The children were present as a live call was placed to Thomas Pesquet - the French astronaut currently on the International Space Station. Only three countries and locations in Europe were part of the live call so it was a very special opportunity. The children had a fantastic experience and learned a lot about Space. They also were captured on the six o'clock RTE News watching the live call take place.
